Day 2 in London

So the first thing we did on our second day in London was we headed to Camden Town, because its been my favorite part of London ever since I first visited. I just love the vibe and the craziness there even though it's become so full of tourists in the last couple of years. The first three photos are just typical pictures of the main street and Camden Market, but then come two pictures of my favorite little shop in Camden Town. It doesn't even have a name but it has the best not-so-typical souvenirs that you can bring your parents, best friends, grannies etc. We also had lunch in Camden Town at Max Orient, but it's not really a place I would recommend. It's an all you can eat/buffett place and it was not that expensive (about 8 £), but apart from the the shrimps, the curry with rice and the desserts nothing was that great. Some things were even rather disgusting (especially the sweet&sour sauce) so unless you really just want to eat shrimps, curry and desserts, I wouldn't go there again.

Als erstes sind wir an unserem zweiten Tag in London nach Camden Town gefahren, weil ich schon seit meinem ersten London Besuch ein rießen Camden Town Fan bin. Ich liebe den Vibe und die Verrücktheit dort einfach auch wenn sich die Zahl der Touristen in den letzten Jahren dort sehr stark erhöht hat. Die ersten drei Bilder sind typische Camden Town/Camden Market Bilder, aber dann kommen zwei Bilder von meinem Lieblingsladen. Das Geschäft hat nicht mal einen Namen, aber es ist das beste nicht-typische Souvenir Geschäft, in dem man kleine Mitbringsel für die Eltern, die beste Freundin oder die Oma kaufen kann. Mittag essen waren wir auch in Camden Town nämlich im Max Orient, aber das kann ich nicht wirklich empfehlen. Es ist ein all-you-can-eat/buffett Laden und teuer war es auch nicht (ca. 8£), aber abgesehen von den Shrimps, dem Curry mit Reis und den Nachspeisen hat nichts wirklich gut geschmeckt... manche Sachen waren sogar eher ecklig (besonders die süß-sauer Sauce). Also falls ihr euch nicht nur von Shrimps, Curry und Nachspeisen ernähren wollt, geht lieber woanders hin.

Since it was raining that day, we decided to head to a museum. It was either Tate Modern or the Natural History Museum and since only two people were really interested in the Arts, we decided to go to the latter. Even though I'm not a huge museum fan in general, I actually really enjoyed this one. The dinosaurs were really cool and so were the mammals and the human body part, I just didn't really enjoy looking at minerals and stones for an hour but I guess that just really depends on what you prefer.

Da es an diesem zweiten Tag geregnet hat, haben wir beschlossen ins Museum zu gehen. Zur Auswahl standen das Tate Modern und das Natural History Museum und sich nur zwei Leute wirklich für Kunst interessieren, sind wir lieber ins zweite gegangen. Obwohl ich generell kein rießen Museumsfan bin, hat mir das Natural History Museum doch ganz gut gefallen. Die Dinosaurier Ausstellung war ziemlich cool und die Säugetiere und der Teil über den Menschen haben mir auch ganz gut gefallen, nur von den Steinen und Mineralien war ich nicht so begeistert, aber das ist wohl geschmackssache.

We actually wanted to drive to Notting Hill to have dinner at a pub after that, but we ended up getting off at the wrong station and landed in Paddington :D Wasn't that bad though, because we then walked a bit from Paddington to Notting Hill and somewhere in between we found this really cool pub called Redan. It belongs to the Original Pub Company and the food was somewhere between 5 and 7 pounds and the cosmopolitan pitcher (last picture) was only 10£. I had chili con carne (I ordered it without rice so I got more chili) and then the others had burgers, wraps and Summer had a salad (second picture). Have I mentioned that I am obsessed with tortilla salad bowls?!

Eigentlich wollten wir dann nach Notting Hill fahren um dort in einem Pub abend zu essen, aber leider sind wir bei der falschen Station ausgestiegen und in Paddington gelandet :D War dann aber doch nicht so schlimm, weil wir dann auf halben Weg zwischen Paddington und Notting Hill einen wirklichen tollen Pub namens Redan gefunden haben. Der gehört zur Original Pub Company und das Essen dort hat zwischen 5 und 7 Pfund und der Cosmopolitan Pitcher (letztes Bild) 10£ gekostet. Ich hab dort Chili con Carne gegessen (ich habs ohne Reis bestellt und hab somit mehr von dem Chili bekommen) und die anderen haben Burger, Wraps und Summer hat einen Salat bestellt (zweites Bild). Hab ich schon mal erwähnt, dass ich total verrückt nach Tortilla Salad Bowls bin?!

My London Tipps:

#5 Don't go to Max Orient:
Not an entirely horrible restaurant, but I can't recommend it either.

Kein totaler schlechtes Restaurant, aber auch nicht empfehlenswert

#6 Cute Shop:
Look for the cute shop from pictures 4 and 5. If you walk from the tube station (Camden Town) to Camden Lock, there's a small bridge right after the Starbucks and then comes the big market on the left. And the shop is in the one building there and the entrance of the store faces directly towards the street. It has no name or sign, but it's turquoise outside.

Sucht den kleinen Laden von Bild 4 und 5. Wenn man von der U-Bahn Haltestelle (Camden Town) zum Camden Lock läuft, kommt irgdnwann nach dem Starbucks eine kleine Brücke. Dahinter kommt dann der große Markt links und da ist ein Gebäude. Das Geschäft ist genau in diesem Gebäude auf der linken Seite und der Eingang ist direkt an der Straße. Es hat keinen Namen oder Schild, aber es ist außen türkis angemalt.

#7 Natural History Museum:
Defintily worth visiting especially if it's raining outside. And the best thing about it: Free entrance!

Defintiv einen Besuch wert, besonders bei schlechtem Wetter. Und das beste daran: der Eintritt ist kostenlos!

#8 Redan:
Really nice pub, good food and drinks and not too expensive! (1 Westbourne Grove, City of Westminster)
